About HRVH Historical Newspapers
HRVH Historical Newspapers, part of the Hudson River Valley Heritage (HRVH) service,
is the product of a two year demonstration project supported in part by Federal
Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library
by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services. Using this grant and other
New York State funds, images were created and digitized for the first newspaper in this collecton,
The Kingston Daily Freeman paper.
The vision for HRVH Historical Newspapers is to provide access to digitized copies
of historical newspapers from the Hudson River Valley region of New York State.
Each newspaper in HRVH Historical Newspapers will have its own page with information
about the publication, including the date range that is available online and information
about the history of the newspaper. The
Browse by title page lists the newspapers that
are available online, currently The Kingston Daily Freeman.
How will we select new titles?
New titles added to HRVH Historical Newspapers will be based on a number of factors,
such as regional significance, the availability of paper or master negative microfilm
copies of the newspaper, and available funds.
Hudson River Valley Heritage (HRVH) is an award-winning
collaborative initiative between the Southeastern NY Library Resources Council (SENYLRC)

Orange and Putnam Counties of New York State. At
www.hrvh.org,
researchers, students, instructors and website searchers have free, 24/7 access to the online
